I'm getting vastly different results comparing Marketo Analytics and Email insight.

For example, Email A in MKTO analytics shows it has 161K sends yet in email insights it shows Email A having 39 sends. What is causing this discrepancy?

I opened up Insight's filtering to include the first date send of Email A to today (same metrics as the MKTO analytics) and included the setting for Batch, Trigger, and Operational Emails just in case. Just to add more information none of the other metrics line up as well, not the deliveries, opens, or clicks.

Re: I'm getting vastly different results comparing Marketo Analytics and Email insight.

There are several issues with Email Insights that I've been working with Support on.

  • There is an 8 or 24 hour delay, but no one knows.
  • Email Insights history goes back no more than 24 months from the time your Email Insights was created.
  • None of the Email reports in the system will ever match. Stop trying. pick one.
  • When you delete Lead data or Emails, some reports are affected differently. Pretty sure that deleting a Lead doesn't affect EP or EI, but deleting an Email Asset does. Deleting leads does affect the RCE EA report.
  • Email Insights data will change slightly over time as people click in emails days or months later.
  • There has been a continuing problem where EI will show 0 or misleading data randomly. This is a problem with the ETL and data tables they are working on.

Hi Jonathan,

This question really belongs to "products". In "community help and feedback", it's unlikely you will get an answers.

HI Jonathan

Email Insight database is not updated in real time. There is a delay (24hours, I think, but I am not sure), while in analytics the data is really made available in real time. If the email is from today, this would probably explain most the differences.

Hi Greg,

Thank you for the reply, I'm going to move this post to Products.

Unfortunately, I don't believe the 24 hour delay is the issue. Email A was sent a couple of months back. I recently got access to markteo and I'm simply trying to understand the marketing team's email history.

Hi again Jonathan

I suppose you may want to ask support. But this could be because your numbers activities where created before the activation of Email Insight in your instance.

Hi Josh,

Thank you for the explanation. I'll resolve to using Marketo Analytics as it seems to hold the most complete data for me .

Re: I'm getting vastly different results comparing Marketo Analytics and Email insight.

I ran into the same issue, but the other way around. Email Insights shows vastly more emails sent vs. Email Performance report. Then I realized: Email Performance report shows only a corresponding partition. So I need to build the same report in other partitions and then obviously merge them. Just to be added to the list of possible reasons of the report discrepancies.
