Email Blast vs Email Send

Why are there two? When to use email blast vs email send? Email send is under the email program, but blast is under default. Email send has two statuses: member, engaged. I dont understand the member status for an email send program.

Are there any docs on the specifics of this?

Re: Email Blast vs Email Send

Hey David,

Until fairly recently, we only did the default channel for this. The Email Program is a newer release and you can find some guides on it here:

https://community.marketo.com/MarketoArticle?id=kA050000000L5zfCAC

Basically if you just want to send an email with no other flow steps, this is a nice way to do it. It gives you a really nice dashboard view and easy to setup testing.

Re: Email Blast vs Email Send

Like Kim said, I like to think of email sends as one-off emails that we just want to get out the door. Also, some of our less experienced Marketo users will do their sends this way since it's simpler... More of a WYSIWYG-type mailer, with fewer options (or ways to mess something up).

Re: Email Blast vs Email Send

I prefer the statuses in the email blast vs the email send. should i create a new channel under email with the statuses of email blast? I dont want to flood the channels with unecessary custom channels?

Thanks as always

Re: Email Blast vs Email Send

The only email program allowed in a default content program is email send.

If we need better status than is in email send, do we edit the default email send campaign (bad practice) or do we create another email send cta campaign under the email program type?

With statuses as email blast.
