Using an SFDC Campaign as a mailing list?

We're sending an email blast, but rather than set up filters like we normally do, our Account Executives need to pick and choose the recipients. How would you approach this?

1. Use a SFDC Campaign as the recipient list, give the sales team a deadline for adding people to the list, and then send the email blast at a future date.
2. Leverage the "Add to Marketo" Sales Insight button, which will a) send the email instantly and b) add them to a program which is synced with SFDC.

We want to track Campaign Influence in Salesforce.

Thoughts?

I would go with option 1.

Make sure you set up campaign member status: added to list(default),sent, open, clicked, etc.

Connect the SFDC campaign to the program.

Create the smart campaigns to manage the campaign status.

For the email send, in your smart list, use member of sfdc campaign = "campaign name", status = "added to list".

By doing that, you can continue to run the program to folks who get added after the initial launch.

I personally prefer the sales insight option since it's a bit more fluid and requires less backend work and management.
