What encoding is used for email subject lines?

We use the API to create a daily newsletter that is sent out to people who have opted in, but are having some issues with special characters. Does anyone know what encoding system is used for subject lines -- UTF-8, Unicode, something else?

Once we know the Marketo standard we can adjust our logic accordingly. Thanks!

Thanks Geoff. Looks like we can add any Unicode into the subject line and it should work in the editor... now to see if it works when the API sends it over. (We've had some issues with the API, unfortunately.)
