Token issues: lead owner = system admin

We are having issues with leads being "owned" by System Admin or Marketo. When we use lead owner tokens for email sender and signature blocks, it is actually populating as System Admin or Marketo, which looks riduculous to our recipients.

It's a similar situation this thread: https://community.marketo.com/MarketoDiscussionDetail?id=90650000000PQpPAAW. But unfortunately we're using the spark edition so we can't use segmentation. Any thoughts on a work around for the users assigned to System Admin and Marketo? Do we have to send two emails, one without tokens to those recipients and one with tokens to all of the recipients correctly assigned? What is the most efficient solution?

Thanks!

In this case, the best way to navigate around this issue is to set up your Auto-Assignment rules in SFDC such that your leads are assigned to a Queue if they would otherwise be assigned to the User which is creating them.  You can do this by adding a final rule to your assignmnt rules for leads with no criteria.  When a lead is owned by a Queue, Marketo will not populate the owner email address, so you would be able to use this token: {{lead.Lead Owner Email Address:default=example@example.com}}  For leads which have an empty Lead Owner Email Address, it will use the default.

Sorry, I think I was using the wrong terminology, our main issue is with contacts, not leads. For the unassigned leads, we are already using queues.

Thoughts on how to handle this with contacts, not leads in SFDC?

Re: Token issues: lead owner = system admin

Hi Steph,

Is there a reason that the Contacts in SFDC have to continue to be owned by the System Admin? If not, I suggest you take a look at program called DemandTools or just use the standard SFDC Data Loader to mass re-assign the Contact Owner to match the Account Owner.

Also, you could use the Account Owner tokens rather than the Lead Owner tokens, but you can only pull in Account Owner Email Address and Name, not phone number.
