Engagement Steams to Programs and back - preventing duplicate emails

Our first try with an Engagement Program, please help me confirm if I'll see the expected behavior.

1. We created an Engagement Program with one stream and eight emails.  Emails were all approved, but the Stream was never activated.

2. Instead, we created a Program with several Smart Campaigns to sent those 8 emails (which "live" in the Engagment Program).  The campaigns had some wait steps, conditional logic etc to restrict who might get email 5 vs 6 vs 7 for example.  We determined with that logic, not enough people were making it through all emails.

3.  New strategy.  Now we want all leads to get all 8 emails.  Perfect for the Stream!

Question, since the emails have always been in the Engagement program, if we add all our leads to the program, can we be confident that only *brand new* leads will get email 1?  and that Leads who had already received emails 1-5 would be sent email 6 on the first cast?

Anything else I might need to consider?

Thanks!

Re: Engagement Steams to Programs and back - preventing duplicate emails

Hi Megan,

If the Marketo emails are the same (meaning the same email ID's), then Marketo will know who have already received which one and will not send them again. But this is true if the email is the same technically speaking. If the emails are clones, Marketo will not know that the leads have already received them and will send them again.
