Munchkin API going away?

Hi - is the munchkin api actually being deprecated? I've heard this mentioned, but have not seen any timeline around this nor can I find any documentation. Does anyone have any additional information on thi?

I don't know where this information is coming from, but it has been explicitly denied by Marketo so I think more posts about it are just propping up the rumor...

Hi,

The Munchkin API definitely is not going away.

And there's another one of those explicit denials!

No idea how the rumor got started.

Re: Munchkin API going away?

Thanks! I had the same question just now because our team is asking to turn it on. So I was glad to find this thread.

I have a vague memory of Marketo's own documentation around 4 years ago saying that the Munchkin API was less secure and being retired so that's where I think the rumor started.

Hey @SanfordWhiteman .... it does appear that there's some truth to the rumor now with the release of version 159 and the deprecation of the associateLead function.  Curious to know your thoughts on it and now that we have only 1 endpoint available for client-side submissions what do we do if dual post isn't a viable option? What does this mean for 3rd party CDP implementations that rely on submitting event tracking data via associateLead like Segment and Tealium?

Re: Munchkin API going away?

Yes, unfortunately it's real now (though I don't think the rumors from years ago were based on anything).

I guess the question is why would a Forms JS submit not be viable? (And believe, me I don't like doing it and cluttering the Activity Log! But since both submit and associateLead depend on the Email Address, what would be the situation?)
