Custom Event partner for new BrightTALK connector

BrightTALK has launched a new and improved connector.  They instructed me to create a custom custom service for use with ReST API, and not the BrightTALK type when creating the new service.

I created the custom service paired with my API-only user.  BrightTALK informed me that the connector was ready to use.  However, the custom service is not available as the Event Partner for a program using the Webinar channel.  My guess is that the custom service needs to be specified as a service for the Webinar channel.  I cannot see where I can make this connection.

Has anyone else had this issue?  I think that BrightTALK made the new connector available in the last month or two.

Thanks!

Ann

Ann,

You can follow the steps from User Guide for BrightTALK for Marketo Adapter.

Thanks

Re: Custom Event partner for new BrightTALK connector

Hi Ann,

We recently purchased BrightTalk and are having the same issue. Apparently, you can no longer connect a Marketo Program to a BrightTalk Webinar using the event partner feature. Instead you have to create the custom API and somehow use smart list triggers to get leads from BrightTalk into the correct Marketo Program. The bad news is all you can find is documentation on the old process (using event partner) and no one at BrightTalk or Marketo seems to know how the smart lists triggers/filters need to be set up for it to work correctly.

Its been a frustrating process and until we can get the sync to work correctly, I have have been exporting lists from BrightTalk and uploading them in to Marketo which certainly isn't ideal.

Thanks,

Cam

Re: Custom Event partner for new BrightTALK connector

Cam,

It's very poorly designed, because it does not account for people watching multiple videos and webcasts.  What I did was keep the old integration in place.  That ensures that at least once a day, I'll get all the leads synced from people that watched a recorded event.  With the new integration, you only get info from the last event watched before the hourly sync. Otherwise, you need to download a report from BrightTALK and manually upload the history by event, a tedious task.

Do you know if as a new user you can still set up via the old connector?

Re: Custom Event partner for new BrightTALK connector

We have been working with the new connector since it was in beta and have spent loads of time and resources trying to make it work.  We share your view.  We are still using the new connector but periodically pull lists from the BTK dashboard, matching data sets and update what's missing via manual list loads.

Hi Shari,

Have you had any issues with hitting the API limits?

Thanks,
