Are there any practices on how to deal with group email adresses in Marketo syncing with SFDC?

We are planning to sync Marketo with Salesforce for one of our clients.

The issue is our customer has alot of leads in SFDC that are registered in group addresses.

they are registered something like below.

LeadA  info@groupemail.com

LeadB  info@groupemail.com

LeadC  info@groupemail.com

Since Marketo recognizes a single email adress as 1 lead so if Lead B fills out a form in Marketo it will turn into as a activity from

Lead A who has filled out a form before Lead B. If I don`t block the name the name will  change to Lead B.

Our customer wants to recognize the leads with the same email addresses as different and sync them to sfdc.

how is that possible? I guessing it is not possible in marketo....

is there a way to change the rule of automatic merging upon fill put form and list uploads?

If I can change the default merging setting somthing like, lead last name, lead first name, emailadress is same merge and if it`s not the same create a new lead....

what would be the best practice to solve this issue?

You can ask Marketo to turn off the deduping, although they strongly discourage this.

If the lead is created in SFDC, Marketo won't dedupe it.

Are they using the group email because they use Partners? I'd dig into this more.

Thanks Josh,

When you say turn off deduping, it will create a an new lead upon every form fill and file upload?

Do you think it is possible to customize the deduping rule after , marketo`s  the deduping is off?

I think this might be a business style in Japan in certain businesses like banks use.

They want all the nurturing emails, seminar information, and feed back sent to the group email address so sombody can

help out as backup upon receiving the email if one is too busy to reply back.

Yes, it would let dupes exist.

There was an article here in the forums on a similar issue, but I am unsure where it went.

You may be able to work with RingLead or LeanData (or other tool) to manage this situation. It will not be easy though since you'll have to manage Company Name and Name matching along with email address.

HI Josh,

After talking with my Developer team, this is a solution we came up with, Do you think this will work?

Lead is created as group email address>thank you email sent from Marketo>Then lead is created in SFDC.

when a different user with the same group email address has filled out a form of course Marketo Lead is updated...but when sync to SFDC

a new SFDC Lead will be created. Of course we will have to develop in sfdc to create a new lead and not update if using the same email address.

Email Blasts and I guess Engagement emails have to be sent out manually and of course activities will be messy for leads that use group address.

Since the priority for our customer was to send emails to each customer with different names I having a hard time for possibilities...
