Email editor 2.0: Make whole modules dynamic content

With the event of modules in the new email editor 2.0, if one wants to add dynamic content, one will face at least 2 issues:

  • Only elements can be made dynamic, not variables
  • If a module contains multiple elements, one has to manage segments for each elements in the module, making is harder to keep consistency between the various elements in the same module. For instance I may make a text dynamic and forget to make the image dynamic.
  • setting dynamic content for each element in the module can be really lengthy, if the module has many 'e.g. a 3 columns with text and image makes 6 contents)

This idea is that it would be simpler if we could simply make a whole module a dynamic content instead of individual elements in the module. It would be even better if, when a module is made dynamic, we could completely swap the module or hide it for certain segments. Then the email would end up having a completely different layout for each segment, which would be really cool.

Could be a simple workaround for this one:

Would be even more powerful if I would completely swap modules for certain segments. For instance, form prospects, I would have a module with a CTA to download a white paper and for customers, I would offer a video.

Exactly.  I think the ability to remove or swap a module by segment is pretty crucial!  As it happens, I have to create two separate emails if I have two segments that needs different modules.  It is a very unwieldy, and gets worse as the number of segments increases

Meaning what JD?  How did it bite you?  More info means a bigger lever we can use to apply pressure to Marketo

I forgot this intuitive request wasn't live yet -- I went to segment my email and I couldn't change my button because I rely on the variables of the module (dynamic content requires the whole module to be editable, at which point you can recode the variables -- something only someone proficient in html should be asked to do). Thus, I had to recode my email using less reliable coding structures so I could allow it to be dynamic. Had one of my marketers attempted this, it would have failed.
