See which link is clicked in email

I have emails that have a few links sometimes and it would be nice in the email reporting to see which links were clicked. Like if there was a way to tag a link as "link a" "link b" etc.  I am not sure if this exists already

just create a smart list and add the filter "clicked link in email". click the drop down on the filter that says "constraint", and check the box next to "link". Then you can select which specific link in the email you want to see results for

You can see this in the Email Link Performance reports.

However, in the performance report, if you use the same link multiple times in an email, you can't see which link was the one being primarily used. For example, when we do webinar invites, we'll often link text but have a register button as well. I'd love to be able to see which link is out performing the others!

I like the "overlay" that some email marketing systems show....helps you visualize where your hot spots are for click activity, as well as learning how button placement/size/color helps

You can add a different querystring parameter to links that go to the same URL and they will be differentiated in the report as in the following example.

http://ww2.[your domain].com/landing_page?link=button
http://ww2.[your domain].com/landing_page?link=text1

Ok all good points but if it was just in the email performance report like "link 1" 10 clicks, "link 2" 20 clicks. Then you wouldnt have to run queries and stuff like that. Work smarter not harder!

There is an existing Idea - Visual Representation of Email Clicks - that is similar to yours, which you may want to vote for.

So I've created a smartlist of 5 emails I'd like to evaluate in the email link performance report but when I run the report it shows more emails then just the ones I've selected.  Am I doing something wrong?

Did you make sure that nothing else is checked? I know that I've had it where I thought that I unchecked everything else, but still had a random program marked so I got extra emails. I need to look into if there is an idea for adding an "uncheck all" to the analytics section when setting up a report.

It really would be nice to be able to see a graphical representation of of where the clicks are on the email.  The old email program that I used to use had this view and I didn't have to set anything up.
