Add a choice to the "Wait" step

Add a choice to the "Wait" step

I would have thought it would have been quite obvious to have an "add choice" function to the wait step.... something as simple as to skip day every week, skip weekend, not on Tuesdays etc.. So many possible choices!

Any hope of this already being in the pipeline already?
Anyone else think it might be helpful?

Hi Barry - This is not currently in the pipeline or on our current roadmap.

Hey Barry,

Give an example of when you might use this.

We vary some client campaigns based on certain parameters, but we make the choices in a "traffic cop" campaign (if you're familiar with those TRAFFIC COP)

So we might do something like...when a lead is created send them to the traffic cop:

If Random Sample: 50% send to FAST CAMPAIGN (1 day wait steps)
If Random Sample: 50% send to SLOW CAMPAIGN (3 day wait steps)

or

same logic with If Opened vs Not Opened email, country, etc.

I'd imagine you might be able to figure something out like this, but maybe you have an example that doesn't quite fit this mold?

Thats pretty much what we want to use it for, run a basic A/B test where one group gets their mail every day and another every Mon, Wed, Fri and not weekends. At the moment we have to use about 8 engagement programs to facilitate this when it could be easily done otherwise.

(I know you might wonder why 8 engagement programs but we have to split our test group send to different flow and separate and move through engagment programs, as we our package only allows one stream in the engagement program)

Thanks,
Barry

Hey Barry,

Interesting....

So what does your setup look like?  Is your engagement stream smart campaigns and that sets up your wait steps?  And the email content is in those smart campaigns?

What benefit are you getting from using the engagement streams?

Yeah, all the streams have smart campaigns in them, some of the campaigns have their own wait times in them to ensure they dont get sent to the next engagement program too early.......it looks messy and could be made alot easier but its the only way that works (hopefully works testing later)

The only benifit of using engagement streams is that it allows us to schedule when mails are sent. Its the only part of Marketo that allows this, but then we have to send it to the next engagement program.

Complicated?

Thanks for your reply however!
