Ability to delete custom fields that are not used

Hi,

I think we should be able to delete the custom fields that have just been created and not used in any form.

Yes! This would be extremely helpful...our list is getting too long 😞

Is this referring to custom fields created in Marketo? That does seem a bit surprising if it is not possible to delete (or at least hide) a custom-created field.

you can hide them from users' view but the fields remain in the admin console. I wish I could delete some custom fields for good or at least rename them. I can understand that if fields are in use it's hard to amend them afterwards but I'm talking here about fields that are not used.

I agree!!!

How's this for fun...

We are going through a re-branding process and a lot of our fields are titled for easy identification by brand and now I'm facing an issue of do I create new fields which are titled correctly for the future or live with the legacy names - confusing to new people.

To make matters more complex we are also in the process of setting up 9 Worspaces and 20 Lead Partitions that also need brand-segmented labeling - this is really going to confuse infrequent and new users.

Marketo - please at least let us rename fields

@Victoria: YES, definitely agree with that! It would be so great if we could just edit the field title and have that change automatically apply to all smart campaigns, smart lists, etc. I assume that for Marketo, this project would be similar the one that gave us the ability to rename smart lists, campaigns, programs, etc.

Perhaps this idea should be merged with this one:

Delete Marketo Fields

The fact you can't delete a field you've just created seems foolish.

I'm working on Marketo/RainKing integration. Created a custom field, but provided the incorrect API name by accident.

There doesn't seem to be anyway to delete the field and start over, nor is there a way to edit the API name.

It looks like I'll need to try and rename the incorrect field, hide it, then create the correct field. I can understand it gets more complicated once the field is in use and there is data associated with it (although you should still be able to delete the field and the data if you don't need it...), but this is a long way to go to correct a typing error.

Looks like this has been quiet for a while. Any update on this?
