OK, thanks to everyone who showed up for the pre-Summit meet up! We had a lot of new faces, great questions, and some great insights into the new certifications and how to get the most out of Summit.

It's time to plan for the next MUG, and as we discussed in January, I'd like to extend an invitation to MUG members to come up with a project they'd like to present. The potential here is enormous, but think about organizational tips, a problem you've solved, an on-boarding story, or a new angle that's unique to your experience. Send me (message in the community or directly) a short description if you're interested.

I'm setting the tentative date at Tuesday, June 6, 2017*, which I'll confirm when we have the speaker and venue set up.

Have fun at Summit, and see you in June!

Greater Kansas City Marketo MUG members:

At last week's meeting, we talked about the distinctive language that Marketo uses, and ways of making it easier for experienced and new users to communicate. Marketo doesn't have anything like that in use (I asked), so I have posted an idea for a simple, printable, visual guide to Marketo terms.

Vote the idea up! Feel free to clarify in the idea comments if you can improve it.

Highly visual guide to Marketo language for newbies.

Also, if you're heading to Summit next week, make sure do download the mobile app!

MUG Meeting Wrap Up

Posted by Margaret Allen Apr 22, 2016

Thanks to everyone who came out to Black Dog for our inaugural MUG meeting. We had a great group, with a wide range of experience and resources. For those who couldn't make it, we embarked in a free-form discussion of on-boarding, campaign design, tracking and notification, and even management groups. I wrote down a bunch of questions and points of confusion that came up during the discussion, and will post resources here as I find them.

To start off, there was a lot of discussion about account-based campaign structure and tracking revenue through Sales Force. This presentation from Nation last year was a good high-level case study on structuring Marketo in an account-based sales. There's a good question at the end on cross-sells, attribution and tags.

Sessions – The Marketing Nation Summit, April 13-15, 2015 – Marketo

Presentation by Chris Willis

  • SAVE THE DATE: The next meeting will be in mid-July, on a Tuesday evening, somewhere further north than Lenexa (suggestions welcome), date and location TBD.
  • We will also have a formal speaker and topic next time. If you have a project you want to share at a future meeting, let me know.

Need a pick-me-up?  Come to Black Dog Coffeehouse at 4:00 PM to meet fellow Marketo users, to trade tips and challenges, and set the agenda for future meetings!
