Why do I receive Custom Validation errors?

The Custom Validation error messages that are seen in the Marketo activity logs are due to the validation rules the client would have in their SFDC instance. They are located in Setup > Customize > [Object/activity] > Validation Rules.

However, there may be times that there maybe no validation rules in the above noted location. Nonetheless, there maybe appexchanges such as Dupe Catcher that may have it's own validation rules.
